BSA703-Industry Standard of Professionalism
Trying to research the industry standard of professionalism was
very trying. Honestly, I couldn’t really find any resources that were of any
actual help for me.
But this is what I think the Industry Standard of Professionalism
is.
The Industry standard of professionalism could be broken
down in a number of ways, but in short, it involves achieving high standards in
all the work you do, both behind the scenes and what is actually seen.
In order to get a job or project done to a high standard
there are a number of skills and behaviours people are expected to follow.
The most notable key skills are;
·
Competence
·
Integrity
·
Respect
These three skills will get almost anywhere in terms of professionalism,
To me they are they most important skills in a professional environment. While other
skills such as knowledge and confidence are useful, these three skills are the
base mark for being professional.
Being competent means that you have the necessary skills and
knowledge to complete your job or project in a professional manner. So there is
no question why this skill would be a base skill or industry professionalism.
Being honest and having a strong sense of integrity is
highly important when working and a professional setting. Especially if you are
working on a large project that does not allow for team members to speak about
their project. In some jobs team members are required by contract to not peak
about their job in any capacity on social media. Having an employee that has a
strong sense of integrity means that they respect their job and employers
enough to know when and where to talk about their job or project.
Respect is something that all team members should have first
and foremost for their job or project. All professionals have at least the most
basic respect fo thir job. If a team member doesn’t have respect for where and
what they are working on then there is no point in having them. These people are
the ones who lack in contribution towards the project and its shows when others
are having to pick up their slack.
